Terms & Conditions – Licensing, Compliance & Installation

1. Business Description

1.1 Ceramico Tiles & Bathrooms (“Ceramico”) operates as a retail supplier of tiles, bathroom products, fixtures, and fittings.

1.2 Ceramico also offers an in-house supply and installation / renovation service for certain works, including the installation of plumbing and electrical fixtures and wall and floor coverings (including tiles and painting).

1.3 All installation works requiring licensing will be carried out by appropriately qualified and licensed tradespersons, where required by law.

2. Building, Structural and Associated Works

2.1 Certain installations may require low-cost building, non-structural, or structural works.

2.2 Any such works are separate and additional to the supply and installation costs quoted by Ceramico.

2.3 Where applicable, these works may be carried out by external contractors.

3. Building Permits – Works Under $20,000

3.1 Where building or structural works are valued at less than $20,000.00, a building permit may not be required provided that the works do not:

  • 3.1.1 Change the purpose or classification of the room or building
  • 3.1.2 Adversely affect the structural integrity of the property
  • 3.1.3 Increase the building footprint
  • 3.1.4 Alter the building classification

3.2 It is the homeowner’s sole responsibility to confirm permit and compliance requirements with their local government authority prior to works commencing, as requirements vary between authorities.

3.3 Ceramico accepts no responsibility for:

  • 3.3.1 Determining permit requirements
  • 3.3.2 Obtaining permits
  • 3.3.3 Permit-related fees, penalties, or fines

3.4 Local authorities may impose fines or enforcement action where works are carried out without required approvals.

4. Building Permits – Works Over $20,000

4.1 Where building or structural works exceed $20,000.00, a licensed builder and building certifier may be required to obtain a building permit.

4.2 In these circumstances:

  • 4.2.1 Responsibility for permits and associated costs rests with the licensed builder or contractor
  • 4.2.2 Ceramico may recommend local licensed builders as a courtesy only
  • 4.2.3 Ceramico accepts no responsibility for third-party building works, permits, compliance, costs, or outcomes

4.3 The homeowner remains responsible for confirming compliance with their local authority prior to works commencing.

5. Licensed Plumbing & Electrical Works

5.1 All plumbing and electrical works will be carried out by appropriately licensed trades and certified by the relevant governing bodies where required.

5.2 For clarity:

  • 5.2.1 Licensed plumbing and electrical works are not classified as building or structural works
  • 5.2.2 Wall and floor coverings, cabinetry installation, fixtures, and fittings are not classified as building or structural works

6. Plumbing Product Installation

6.1 All plumbing and sanitary products must be installed by a licensed plumber.

6.2 Failure to engage a licensed plumber will:

  • 6.2.1 Void all applicable product warranties
  • 6.2.2 Release Ceramico and the manufacturer from liability for defects, damage, or failure arising from improper installation

7. Shower Screen Installation

7.1 All shower screens must be installed by an experienced and competent contractor.

7.2 Ceramico will not accept claims for damage, incorrect installation, or product failure where shower screens are installed as a DIY installation or by an unqualified person.

8. Incorrect or Unauthorised Installation

8.1 Where products are installed incorrectly, or installed by unqualified or unlicensed persons, any costs incurred as a result of calling out Ceramico or a manufacturer’s service agent—where installation faults are identified—will be charged to the customer.

9. General

9.1 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.
